You can now exercise with a mask if you perform “vigorous” exercises

July 13, 2020

It is unclear what “vigorous” refers to in this context.

As part of the new lockdown regulations that were gazetted last night, people who perform “vigorous” exercise will now be allowed to do so without wearing a mask. However, they need to stay at least 3 meters away from other people when doing so. Many legal experts and commentators have said that they are not sure what “vigorous exercise” in this context entails, leaving the public guessing as to when they will be able to seek protection under this regulation. Cabinet is set to address the press this week where they will hopefully provide some clarity on the situation and extent of the new rule.
