Western Cape Transport MEC Bonginkosi Madikizela has issued a stern warning to taxi operators that if they do not make peace, the Bellville Taxi Rank will be closed down. In recent months, tension between groups has risen over territory battles. According to the MEC, there were 56 taxi-related murders and 32 attempted murders since the start of the year. The most recent incident was last month at the Bellville Taxi Rank where 3 commuters were injured in cross-fire.
