He was the host of the prestigious event

Trevor Noah stole the show at this year’s Grammy Awards. Noah was the host of the evening, which was very different from previous years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. His opening monologue was hopeful and optimistic. Noah said that the socially-distanced event was what the future could look like.

“Tonight, we are hoping that this is all about what 2021 can be, full of joy, new beginnings and coming together. Never forgetting what happened in 2020, but full of hope for what is to come. So, let’s do this, people.”

He also poked fun at some of the artists attending the Grammys. Noah added that music is what really unites people and that this is exactly what the world needs right now.

“This evening, we will celebrate music and hopefully forget all our problems, unless one of our problems is being obsessed with Harry Styles, because that’s only going to worse, I can promise you.”

Naturally, he couldn’t give up the opportunity to crack a joke about Meghan and Harry’s Oprah interview too. He explained how this Grammys will work this year. It was an outdoor event, with enough space between each guest to ensure proper COVID-protocols. All the nominees were seated in the tent, awaiting the verdict on the categories they were nominated for.

“So right now, there is more tension in that tent than at a family reunion at Buckingham Palace.”
