They apparently sent a brief to influencers to advocate for a lifting of the ban.
South African Breweries (SAB) has reportedly sent a brief to a number of social media influencers to take part in a campaign to advocate against the third alcohol ban in the country. SAB has not confirmed that they are behind this campaign, but in an interview with TimesLive, they did not deny that it is their brainchild either. In the four-page brief sent to social media influencers, they are presented with statistics around job losses and loss of revenue in the alcohol industry amid the third ban in the country. They are then asked to post about this on their social media accounts. Many have already started doing so. SAB, in its interview with TimesLive, has said that they stand behind regulations to combat COVID-19, but that the continued ban on alcohol is crushing their industry.
