Siv Ngesi enters the world of drag

Siv Ngesi has unveiled his drag character, Sivanna to the world in a recent Instagram post. The 35-year old actor and comedian said that he has always wanted to try his hand at drag, but he simply couldn’t do it due to bookings that contractually obligated him to not shave his beard. Now, he finally got the chance to go all out and introduce his alter-ego to the world. Cape Town-based drag queen Manila von Teez helped Siv to select stunning outfits for Sivanna. She also helped with make-up and her hairdo. According to Siv, he wants Sivanna to be taken seriously and went all out to present her as someone you want to involve in conversations. The announcement photo shoot was done at FuturFit Studio in Athlone. Sivanna now has a certain look and style that Von Teez is planning on developing and keeping up even more. Siv has said that she is already working on new designs and looks that Sivanna will be seen flaunting pretty soon. Several fashion brands have already said they want to use Sivanna for their next marketing campaign. In the first set of photos, Sivanna appeared with flowing hair and a bright red dress, sporting black sequin designs. She also had Ngesi’s eyebrows blocked out with makeup and replaced with her own, lighter brows for a more feminine touch. Siv says he has alway been interested in drag, even since he was a child. He says although he is very masculine, his soul is in fact feminine. Responding to questions relating to his sexuality, Siv declined to answer. He questioned what wearing a dress has to do with one’s sexuality, saying that it has no bearing on his participation in the drag space. Although it might seem that Sivanna was created to form part of Siv’s comedy stylings, she is in fact destined for something quite different. Siv has said that he really wants to launch a show with Sivanna. His idea is to use Sivanna to see if people treat him differently when he is wearing a dress.
