After tweeting several apologies, she deleted her Twitter account. Sia recently released a film called “Music” which is her debut as a director. The film snagged her two Golden Globe nominations but caused quite a controversy over a scene that depicts an autistic person being restrained. In the autism community, this practice is highly controversial, traumatic, and sometimes lethal. An online petition managed to get 18 000 signatures calling for “Music” to be cancelled. On Twitter, Sia apologised several times, promising that the scene will be removed and that a warning will be added to the movie stating that it does not endorse the practice of restraint. After the apologies, she deleted her Twitter account. The film is not only directed by Sia, but also contains 10 new songs from the artist.
