SANDF medics deployed in the Eastern Cape

July 6, 2020

This comes a day after more than 10 000 new cases were reported in SA.

SANDF medics have been deployed in the Eastern Cape, a day after SA reported a spike of over 10 000 new COVID-19 cases in a single day. The Eastern Cape has been a troublesome hotspot and roleplayers finally decided to act by deploying doctors, nurses, health technicians and clinical support staff in the area. A team of Cuban doctors, part of the experts assisting the country in the fight against the Coronavirus, are also accompanying the team. The deployment will alleviate some of the pressure on hospitals in the province, many of which are running at full capacity. More than 18 percent of the national infections are from the Eastern Cape.
