There are now 117 114 active Covid-19 cases in the country According to the latest official data released by the South African government, South Africa has recorded a whopping 13 155 new coronavirus cases during the course of the past 24 hours. This brings the total active number of cases to 117 114. This is by far one of the highest daily increases in infections the country has seen for a while. South Africa is currently facing a third wave of infections and has been placed back on level 3 of the national lockdown in an effort to slow the infection rate. Over the weekend, the Minister of Basic Education confirmed that schools will not be closing down due to the third wave.
