Citizens are protesting due to government’s lack of adhering to their housing agreement.

Massive protests on the N2 towards Cape Town at Baden Powell Drive and Spine Road were underway this morning. The protests led to the closure of this section of the N2. Community members took to the streets to protest the government’s lack of supplying them with state-funded housing. According to community leaders, their housing plans were approved in 2014 already and to date, no action has been taken by authorities to adhere to the agreement. Their hope is that the Minister of Housing addresses them and answers their questions with regards to the delay in setting up housing for the community.
