This is despite the fact that cases are spiking in hotspots.

Coronavirus cases are continuing to spike in certain hotspots, like the Western and Eastern Cape. The total number of COVID-19 cases in South Africa has now risen to 767 679. Despite this, Prof Abdool Karim, the National Command Council’s health advisor, has said that South Africa is not facing a second wave at the moment. Officials have warned however, that citizens need to be careful this festive season to avoid a new wave of infections which could plummet the country back into lockdown.
