Prince Kaybee says artists shouldn’t feature people who don’t make an actual contribution to songs

He seems fed with artists that are mentioned just for aesthetics.

Local music producer Prince Kaybee has taken to Twitter to express his thoughts on a rise in a recent trend to simply mention other artists on albums, even though they made no musical contributions to that piece of work.

According to the “Charlotte” hitmaker, artists should only mention other artists on their tracks if they helped create lyrics, beats or any other core element of the song in question. He mentioned that people get paid if their names are on tracks and that it is a disgrace if someone receives money without adding any value.

“Don’t feature artists that don’t contribute to the music composition or lyrics, people that are just there for aesthetics, now deals are coming in, and they must be paid because they are on the title of the song. It hurts,” he said.

In September, Cassper Nyovest had to put out fires and address concerns raised by Boohle that he only wrote his verse on “Siyathandana”. She made the claims on “Podcast and Chill: Celebrity Edition”, hosted by MacG.

Asked about the composition of the song – which has been under much scrutiny since many people felt the “Destiny” hitmaker felt more like a featured artist – she said that Cassper only wrote his verse. “He only came with his verse. I wasn’t even there,” she said.

“This is so disappointing, and I’ve watched it a few times. I won’t even explain anything about how this song was written, but I got so much love for Boohle man. One of the most gentle of souls I’ve met, and we made magic together. May God bless her, May she make many more hits,” Cassper responded in a post.

It seems very likely that this issue is one of the reasons why Prince Kaybee decided to voice his opinion on the matter. Prince Kaybee has long been held as a very influential figure in the local music scene.
