People are breaking into Cape Town libraries and causing massive amounts of damage

The City is offering a R5 000 reward for anyone who brings them information on the criminals.

A total of 7 Cape Town libraries have been hit by a string of criminal activities. The crimes all resemble each other, leading authorities to think they might have some sort of library-crime gang on their hands. The affected libraries have together endured about R100 000 in damages. The criminals break in, loot the property and cause damage to the building through vandalism. The affected public libraries are Weltevreden, Wynberg, Delft, Lwandle and Macassar library. During one of the incidents, a security officer was stabbed while he tried to keep the perps out of the building. The City is offering a R5 000 award to anyone who brings them information that leads to the arrest of the criminals.
