No more open food at SA grocery stores.

April 4, 2020

Major retailers have taken measures to now cover open food items in their stores and have also removed self-service stations.

Major SA grocery stores like Woolworths, Pick n Pay and Checkers have decided to cover food items that were previously openly displayed. These include items like biltong, ham and fresh bread. The stores have also decided to do away with their self-service stations and food tastings. This is being done in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Although there is no evidence of COVID-19 being transmitted through food, retailers are playing it safe and not taking any chances.
