New alternative to WhatsApp, HelloApp has arrived

July 22, 2021

It was created by two former WhatsApp employees.

While many people have made the shift to WhatsApp alternatives back when they changed their data collection policies, it seems that users now also have another option to pick from.

HelloApp is a new, more secure alternative instant messaging platform that has been created by two former WhatsApp employees who were working at the company from its early days.

HelloApp will be available to download as early as next week, if everything goes as planned.

HelloApp works in a similar fashion as WhatsApp. Users can chat with each other privately or in groups and the only way to add a contact is by saving their number. They have promised that it will not run any ads on their app and that chats are secured with end-to-end encryptions.

WhatsApp, of course, has been frank about its data tracking and there are rumours that they will start running ads on the platform soon.

The two founders of HelloApp, Neeraj Arora (former chief business officer) and Michael Donohue (former engineering director) have so far declined any interviews with the media, so it is difficult to get a true behind the scenes look at HelloApp.

However, it is set for public release on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store as of Monday, 26 July.
