They are protesting against the decision not to increase salaries for public servants.
The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) will this week arrange major strikes across the country. This comes after they spent most of the weekend in meetings with the government. The union is protesting the government’s decision not to increase salaries of public servants. Their member base is more than 240,000 people, making it the largest public-sector union in the country. The idea of the strike is that its members will flock to offices today to all apply for leave this Tuesday (tomorrow). During the entire week, all of its members will also be taking part in lunch hour pickets.
