Fans were not impressed with her display of political affiliation.
It’s no secret that political parties often invite big local stars to perform at their rallies. Usually, these celebs draw massive crowds and people remember the party that booked the artist because of the free show they put on in their communities.
Makhadzi was recently booked by the ANC to perform at a rally. She seems to have taken the opportunity to the next level by also performing in a ANC-themed dress, clearly showing her affiliation to the political party in a blatant way.
Showing off her dress on Instagram, she posted an image with the caption, “Honouring the president’s invite.”
The likes of Bonang Matheba, Pearl Thusi, AKA, Shimza, and Arthur Mafokate, have previously been criticised for publicly admitting their support for the governing party.
Makhadzi’s outfit and outright display of who she will be voting for on 1 November has stirred outrage among fans, with many threatening to cancel her.
“I took the best decision to unfollow @MakhadziSA for supporting the marikana murderer,” commented @Rakgadi_EM.
What did we do to black people who supported the apartheid regime ? The reality is that, the ANC is our new oppressor and people like @MakhadziSA are supporting our oppressor. A morally upright artist would side with the people of South Africa instead of grooving with thieves. pic.twitter.com/OwW6cXCcUO

“Cyril Ramaphosa is destroying Makhadzi’s brand by involving her in Politics. The ANC criminals will do anything to convince people to vote for them,” tweeted Mr Handsome.
