Load shedding on the cards for the entire week

July 13, 2020

Eskom is working around the clock to restore their capacity.

Eskom has warned that South Africans are likely to face load shedding throughout this week as the power utility works around the clock to bring more generators online. It cited the cold weather as one of the reasons why electricity consumption has spiked recently. Last week, Eskom announced that after a tripped unit at Medupi power station was restored to operation, one unit at Tutuka power station was yet to be restored as another unit at the same station went down. A third generation unit also tripped at Kendal power station. Power is still being supplied to health services like hospitals and they are not affected by power cuts.
