The power cuts are likely to last almost a year.

A senior Eskom representative has said that it is highly likely that load shedding will resume after the nationwide lockdown comes to an end. This means that from May, South Africans must once again prepare for rolling blackouts. Eskom said that during the lockdown, they can only do low-level repairs. Specialists are needed to get to do the proper maintenance that is needed to get the power utility back on track, but these are hard to comeby during the lockdown.
