Level 3 restrictions could be relaxed this week

February 1, 2021

The president had a meeting with premiers of the country over the weekend to discuss this possibility.

The Western Cape has been calling on the national government to ease the level 3 lockdown restrictions. Specifically, they have called for a more lenient curfew, the reopening of alcohol sales and for beaches to be made accessible to the public again. Over the weekend, the president and the Command Council met with the 9 premiers of South Africa to discuss the possibility of lowering South Africa’s lockdown alert level. According to some reports, the president could address the nation this week to announce that the above rules will be waived.
