Knife fight breaks out in the Waterfront

February 15, 2021

It’s not clear what the young men were arguing about, but one of them was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the back.

Yesterday, footage emerged on social media that showed a group of young men involved in a heated argument. At one point, one of the men pulls out a large knife and starts chasing the others. The crowd at the V&A Waterfront, where the incident occurred, can be seen screaming in pure horror at what they are witnessing.

One of the young men was stabbed in the back and had to be rushed to hospital. Luckily, he survived the attack and was sent home to his family.

On social media, some people are suggesting that the incident could be related to gangsterism, but no official confirmation about this has surfaced from police or other authorities.

Visitors of the V&A Waterfront were upset because, in the video, no security staff is visible. Many were outraged, saying that the Waterfront is not doing enough to protect shoppers. In reaction to this, V&A head of public relations Donald Kau said that their security officers did come to the scene to disperse the group of fighting youngsters.

According to him, the Waterfront runs a tight, modern security operation with CCTV cameras, foot patrols, armed guards and security vehicles. Apparently, the police have not yet been contacted by the victim or their family so that a case can be opened. The Waterfront has said that they are urging the victim to do so because this will allow them to help the police in identifying the perpetrators.

The V&A Waterfront has said that it has increased its security protocols, although they did argue that this was an isolated incident.
