This comes after allegations that they exposed personal info of millions of underage users.
The EU is officially investigating Instagram to determine if they broke data-policies and exposed personal information of millions of underage users. It follows a complaint from a US data scientist, who last year said that Instagram allowed underage users to publicly display their phone numbers and email addresses by switching to “business” accounts. According to European laws, if the investigation does find Instagram to be guilty, Facebook can face a fine of up to 4% of its annual revenue.
