From Friday, face masks will be mandatory in SA.

April 27, 2020

When leaving your home, you’ll have to cover your nose and mouth, no matter which lockdown level SA is in.

With level 4 lockdown starting on Friday, 1 May, it will be mandatory for all citizens to wear a face mask when leaving their homes and entering a public space. This will be the norm, no matter which level of lockdown South Africa will be in. Government has explained that people can use any form of fabric to cover their nose and mouth, whether that be a homemade mask from a shirt or a scarf wrapped around the face. Masks help to stop the spread of droplets which may carry the coronavirus. Several people have started selling homemade masks online in various neighbourhoods to allow people to make the necessary arrangements to ensure that they comply with the latest lockdown rules.
