Facebook upholds its ban against Donald Trump

The ex-president said that the decision is a “total disgrace

This week, Facebook’s independent oversight board ruled that the tech giant can continue to ban Donald Trump from its social media platforms. Facebook initially banned Trump after the riots took place at Capital Hill last year. It was alleged that Trump provoked his followers online to take to the streets.

Donald Trump and his previous Chief of Staff released a statement on Facebook’s ruling that it can continue to disallow him from the platform. In the statement, they said that this is a total disgrace and a “sad day” for America. In particular, they feel that big social media companies are doing away with the concept of free speech by deciding who gets to voice their opinion and who may not.
