Decision on school closure expected today

July 20, 2020

There has been loads of pressure on government to close schools again until after the COVID-19 peak.

According to various sources, South Africans can expect a decision from the government sometime today on whether or not schools are going to be closed. This comes after all 5 teachers’ unions in the country have addressed the cabinet, demanding that schools be shut down until the end of the coronavirus peak in the country. There is no official indication as to which way the government will swing on this matter, but the sentiment seems the reflect that schools will be closed, at least until middle of August.
