eThekwini municipal bus drivers are protesting on a longstanding matter between them and the municipality.

This morning during peak hour traffic, eThekwini municipal bus drivers blocked parts of the highway during protest action. According to reports, the municipality and the bus drivers have been at odds regarding several administrative issues for months. The blockades caused havoc on the roads, until tow trucks and armoured vehicles were dispatched to remove the buses from the roads. The bus service is owned by controversial figure, Mandla Gcaba, nephew of Jacob Zuma.
