Fans have said that it is definitely set up for a third season and beyond.

Following the international success of the first season, the Netflix production “Blood and Water” has returned for a second season to the streaming platform. The first season ended on a serious cliffhanger, making fans very eager to binge their way through the second stint of the series.

For those who have not yet watched season one, a short summary of what you can expect might be necessary. Blood & Water follows Puleng (Ama Qamata) on a search for her sister who was abducted 17 years ago. At a party, she sees Fikile “Fiks” Bhele (Khosi Ngema) and thinks Fiks could be her sister.

Puleng ends up switching schools to the very classy Parkhurst High where she gets caught up in all secrets and lies of the rich and famous. The season ended with Puleng revealing her investigation to Fiks. Puleng’s father is also implicated in the abduction and we found out that there are much bigger role-players involved.

If you thought the first season was dramatic, the second season is even more riveting. All of the old characters make a comeback in season two, but some new faces are also added to the mix, like Sam (Leroy Siyafa), Pauline (Katishcka Chanderal) and Zayd (Alzavia Abrahams).

In the second season, fans can expect to see Puleng carry on her search and investigation. The problem is that she has burnt a lot of bridges to get to the truth of the matter – the effect of which she can now feel while being rather isolated.

Fans who have watched season two have also said that there is huge character development in this rendition of the show. Especially some of the secondary characters have evolved into much more rounded characters, which is a welcome addition to the show.

The second season of Blood & Water hit Netflix on 24 September 2021.
