The BathuxSomizi comes in four options, each based on natural minerals.

South African sneaker brand, Bathu has teamed up with local media personality Somizi to release a brand new sneaker collection. It’s called BathuxSomizi and features 4 different colour options based on different natural minerals. These are platinum, gold, diamond and ruby. 

According to the team behind the collab, the initial idea took about 2 years to finalise and various design options. Further to this, they felt that the timing wasn’t right to drop a new product, until now. Somizi and Bathu’s founder, Theo Baloyi, have been friends for almost six years and they have always wanted to build a brand together. 

The reason for using minerals as inspiration for the colourways is to promote Africa and its richness. Somizi wanted to highlight most precious minerals Africa exports to the ret of the world, which is why the range is rather extensive for a new collection.

The different options are also meant to enable the shoes to be versatile enough for any event. 

Some options might be more suitable for formal events while others are slightly more chilled. The platinum shoe, for instance, is great for a casual event with friends and family. If you are looking to dress things up for something a bit more extravagant, the gold shoe should be your first choice.

Announcing the new range on Instagram, Somizi showed his excitement in the fact that the new range is finally available at all Bathu stores around the country. 

Bathu has said that it plans on being the biggest sneaker brand in Africa within the next 15 years.
