Apple Pay has arrived for FNB customers

Virtual and physical cards can be loaded onto the contactless payment system.

FNB customers can now make use of Apple Pay. According to the bank, they have been working around the clock for months to bring this functionality to account holders. In South Africa, Discovery Bank, Absa and Nedbank beat them to the chase by launching Apple Pay support in May of this year already.

On the FNB app, the bank notified customers that they are now able to set up Apple Pay. The process is relatively quick and easy. The app will guide users to a screen where you can select which card you want to add to Apple Pay. Currently, FNB makes Apple Pay available to almost all account holders and one can even add your virtual card to the contactless payment system.

Some customers reported that the sign up process had bugs and didn’t work properly. However, FNB’s reaction to this was to request that users ensure they have the latest version of the app downloaded on their devices.

Customers have reported that you can also add your FNB card the other way around, by starting at the Apple Pay app and scanning your card.

Apple Pay works on the iPhone and Apple Watch. It uses the same technology as one would find in a tappable bank card so you can make payments at card machines by just holding your device near a payment terminal.
