She and AKA went for lunch just hours before the incident.
Local rapper AKA and his fiancé’s weekend in Cape Town ended in tragedy after she fell from the 10th floor of the Pepper Club Hotel. Anele Tembe accompanied AKA to the Mother City for an appearance he had to deliver.
The rapper posted several stories of their weekend in Town, which included a flashy event in Kloof Street and a lunch at the Waterfront. The latter took place just hours before Anele fell to her death.
Initially, fans thought that this was all just a rumour – nothing more than attention-seeking fake news. AKA, however, has not posted again since the early hours of Sunday morning. Late on Sunday Afternoon, however, police confirmed that the 22-year-old woman had indeed passed on.
The police have opened a docket and started an inquest into her death, combing the scene for any sort of evidence as to what could have transpired.
Her family also issued a statement shortly after the news broke.
In their statement, the family said that AKA is “inconsolable and surrounded by family and close friends”. They urged the public and the media to give them the privacy they need to heal and process the heartbreaking news.
“We are still in shock and are dealing with our emotions, as she was an exceptional and gifted young woman, with so much life ahead of her. She had a sweet nature about her and was always nurturing to those around her,” the statement said.
AKA and Anele had been dating for just over a year.
